Wanda Elisabeth Hareim
Oil paintings

I was born in Oslo in 1951 and grew up there, have received instruction, been tutored and have ploughed my way through a fair amount of art history and literature on art and artists.

I work with oils, pastels and water colours. My repertoire ranges from landscape paintings to more abstract depictions or poetic abstractions.

Nature is the source of inspiration. Often my works of art are impressions from natures diversity - and invitations to see the large in the small - the first flowers of spring, summer heat, autumn colours and winter mysticism.

Jakob Weidemann - the well known Norwegian painter who taught Norwegians how to enjoy the abstract painting - was my tutor for several years.

I have had a number of exhibitions in Norway and abroad and many commissions from private customers and the public sector.

To create a work of art - a painting - is something special, something unique, like inventing something or making a discovery. When I stand in front of a canvas, I put my soul into it so that it becomes a part of me. The process becomes a magical search for secret messages that turn the motifs into symbols - a balancing act between dream and reality.
